FX MARGIN TRADING · COMING SOON
FX margin trading: the next extension of the live FX book
Spot FX runs on FinLabCore today: quoted, executed and settled immediately, with the spread as revenue and every position revalued daily in real double-entry books. Margin trading is the natural next step, trading on margin rather than on funded balances, and it is coming.
The live FX book it builds on
Margin is not being built on sand. The FX book already runs in production: spot conversion between held currencies at quoted rates, the institution’s spread booked to its own income position, dual valuation on every entry, and daily revaluation of open currency positions in the double-entry ledger. Margin trading extends positions the books already understand, it does not introduce a second system.
What margin trading adds
Trading on margin rather than on funded balances opens a higher-yield revenue line on the same client base, and brings three disciplines with it, all part of the delivery:
- Position keeping, open positions tracked as first-class objects, not implied balances.
- Collateral management, margin posted, monitored and enforced.
- Exposure limits, per-client and aggregate limits on what the institution is willing to carry.
The commercial logic is the platform’s usual one: the capability lands in the same apps your clients already trade spot in, priced through the same tariff engine, booked into the same books.
One honest line about permissions
Margin trading carries its own regulatory scope, distinct from spot conversion. If it is on your roadmap, factor the permissions into your planning early, it is a conversation we are glad to have alongside the technical one, though your regulator and counsel own the answer.
Building it with the institutions that need it
Extensions like this get scoped with the partners who will run them. If FX margin is on your roadmap, tell us your markets, instruments and timeline, early conversations shape what ships first.
