LOCAL & INSTANT PAYMENTS

Local & instant payments: Interac, ACH/EFT and fast rails

International rails win the pitch; domestic rails win the daily volume. FinLabCore runs both: fast and instant payments that clear in seconds, Interac for everyday Canadian transfers, and ACH/EFT-style batch clearing as the low-cost option, each a first-class payment type, priced per client and booked into the same double-entry ledger.

Instant payments that clear in seconds, not on a batch cycle

Where a fast or instant scheme exists, your clients use it as naturally as any other transfer: funds clear in seconds rather than waiting on a settlement cycle. In the apps it is simply a payment, created, signed under the client’s mandates, screened before it leaves, confirmed on completion. The speed is the rail’s; the controls, pricing and accounting are the platform’s.

Interac for everyday Canadian transfers

Serving Canadian clients means speaking Interac, the transfer method Canadian businesses and individuals actually use day to day. On FinLabCore, Interac runs in production as a native payment type: initiated from the client apps, screened and controlled like every other outbound flow, and booked into the books like every other movement.

Combined with domestic batch clearing and regulator-ready reporting data, it makes the platform a working stack for a Canadian MSB, the full picture is on Core Banking for EMIs & MSBs.

ACH/EFT and equivalents: the low-cost batch option

Not every payment needs to clear in seconds, and not every payment should pay for speed. ACH/EFT and equivalent batch rails give your clients the economical domestic option, maintained alongside the fast schemes so the choice of rail is a price-and-urgency decision, not a platform limitation. Because fees are configured per payment type and per client in the tariff engine, the batch rail can be priced as the everyday default while instant carries a premium, your call, changed without a release.

New local rails are configuration, not development

Domestic schemes differ by market; the platform’s answer does not. New local or regional payment types are onboarded as provider integrations and configuration with a defined onboarding path, so entering a new geography is a commercial decision. Bring the corridor; the integration layer does the rest.

Which domestic rails are available today?
Fast and instant payment schemes, Interac for Canada, and ACH/EFT-style batch clearing, running in production. Additional local rails are onboarded per market as integrations and configuration.
As fast as the scheme clears, seconds rather than a batch cycle. The platform adds no batching of its own: screening runs pre-departure and booking is atomic.
Yes, fees are set per payment type, per direction and per client, combining flat and percentage components with bounds, from the back office and without a release. Pricing & Distribution.
Identical ones: pre-departure screening with hold, rejection and action-required outcomes, per-client limits, country availability rules, signatory mandates and, where policy routes it, back-office approval.
That is the expansion model working as intended: local rails are provider integrations plus configuration, scoped against your corridor at the demo.
Because Canadian clients expect it, and few platforms in this category treat the Canadian stack as first-class. Interac plus ACH/EFT plus regulator-ready reporting data is the working combination; see EMIs & MSBs.
